SUMMARY

Over 26 years of progressive experience in concept development, production, post-production and distribution of short and long form broadcast quality video; concentrating in the areas of health care, science education, transportation, national defense, marketing, and advertising.

EXAMPLES OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Conception / Writing

• Wrote and directed a series of spots for GBMC called “Greater Health Matters,” covering topics such as prenatal care, colon cancer detection, osteoporosis etc. Worked with the Baltimore Sun to co-brand the campaign and synchronize print information with each week’s commercial topic. The campaign increased traffic to the “Greater Health Matters” website leading to significant patient referrals for GBMC.

• Wrote and directed a commercial for the new electronic version of the Stars and Stripes newspaper.  Took the concept of “alternative uses” for newspapers and gave it a humorous spin. The result was a cost-effective spot that exceeded the client’s expectations and won an Emmy Award for best commercial.

• Wrote and produced a video on the history of Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. Used the style of a WWII news reel to explain APL’s creation of the Proximity Fuse and its importance to ending the war.  Also used the style of 50’s television to illustrate APL’s creation of the first GPS system. This video allowed audiences to grasp highly technical concepts and understand APL’s place in history. The video served as a centerpiece for APL’s 75th anniversary celebration.

Producing / Directing

• Field produced over 25 commercials featuring players from Superbowl XLIX. Coordinated scheduling, personnel and equipment. Negotiated for time with players and directed location shooting. Ensured delivery of all media assets for a 72-hour post turn-around resulting in over 80 “shout outs” to U.S. troops that aired during the game in over 130 countries.

• Produced, Shot and Directed a bike helmet safety video for The Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Participated in focus groups and script development to craft an effective message for urban teens to always wear their bike helmets. The video was used to measurably change behavior among the target group and won multiple awards in international competition.

• Wrote, produced and directed a series of scenarios for a security video that portrayed the U.S. military’s response to an earthquake in Afghanistan. Acquired “ruined” locations, wardrobe, props and vehicles.  Directed over 20 actors portraying soldiers and refugees; including a herd of goats. The result was a realistic depiction of a natural disaster adding to the impact of the educational video.

Facilities Development

• Developed the video facility for The Maryland Department of Transportation.  Directed equipment procurement and installation.  Designed and installed lighting, video and audio equipment for three camera productions.  Created the standards and operation guide for all MDOT video production.

• Designed, budgeted and directed the building of a green screen studio for APL - expanding the facilities production ability and allowing for more creative and cost-effective productions.
